Chapter 7: The Feedback Loop
In this module, we take a close look at four other key managing skills needed to be an effective manager and leader. While there are quite a few other key managing skills needed, for this workbook we chose to focus on the following:
- Tough Conversations-Conflict Resolution
- Ethical Decision Making
- Tactical Empathy and Emotional Intelligence
- Managing Up
We have found over the years that if coaches, leaders, and managers have some basic skills to begin their careers in these four areas they do overwhelmingly better than coaches, leaders, and managers who do not have some basic knowledge and experience in these skills.
Take your time and be fully engaged in this module. The skills we share here literally can help you through some of your most difficult times as a coach and leader. While some people may call these “soft skills” they do not feel so soft when you are moving through a situation that requires them to get you to the desired resolution of the difficult issue.
